Winter Horse Camp: December 2011 |
top | |||||||||||
We are offering Winter camps December 19-22 and December 27-30. A minimum of 5 campers is needed to have a camp. The weeks people have asked about will be advertised here, along with the number of campers needed to fill the camp. We are sorry to announce that due to the current economic situation and the latest state regulations, we will not be offering meals or overnight camps this year. Hopefully, when the economy gets better we will be able to offer them again in the future. Daily camp activities include feeding the horses and cleaning the stalls, a riding lesson in the covered arena, and instruction in horsemanship. The Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) manuals are used as a study guide. Campers progress through the skill levels by taking a written and riding test at the end of the week. In addition to riding, campers learn about the care of horses, and participate in tacking them, and washing and grooming them. A fun horseback riding activity is held in the afternoon, such as a relay game, vaulting, a trail ride, or bareback riding. Other activities include games, and crafts. | ||||||||||||
